Sir James Bond is called back out of retirement to stop SMERSH. In order to trick SMERSH, James thinks up the ultimate plan - that every agent will be named 'James Bond'. One of the Bonds, whose real name is Evelyn Tremble is sent to take on Le Chiffre in a game of baccarat, but all the Bonds get more than they can handle.
This 1967 spy spoof, helmed by an ensemble of directors including John Huston and Val Guest, sends a retired Sir James Bond back into action against the villainous organization SMERSH. His madcap plan, renaming every agent 'James Bond' to confuse the enemy, fuels a sprawling, anarchic comedy of mistaken identities and baccarat showdowns. Loose, satirical, and deliberately chaotic, the film lampoons the secret-agent craze with extravagant style. Its tone is broad and surreal rather than suspenseful. With a MagicMovieScore of 5.2, it is best suited to viewers curious about 1960s comedy oddities and freewheeling send-ups of the espionage genre.
